AAPI Immigration Panel

The Asian American Pacific Islander Democratic Club of San Diego, thank you in advance for joining us on October 1st at 6pm for this important conversation on immigration.

Immigration is at the heart of many AAPI stories — from families who came seeking opportunity, to communities still fighting for reunification, language access, and fair policies today. Our goal tonight is to lift up those stories, highlight the challenges our communities face, and explore how we can work together for justice and equity.

No Business Meeting of the AAPI Dem Club in July, Special Pride/AAPI event on July 11th
Dear Allies and Community Members

I hope you're all enjoying a wonderful start to the summer.

As is our tradition, we will not be holding a July business meeting to give everyone some well-deserved time to relax and reconnect with family and friends over the holiday break. Please take this opportunity to recharge—because, as we've seen in recent weeks in Washington, we are heading into a critical fight, and rest is just as essential as action.

In lieu of our regular meeting, we’re excited to announce that we will be co-sponsoring a Pride event with our incredible sibling clubs:

  • San Diego Democrats for Equality

  • San Diego County Young Democrats

  • Veterans Democratic Club of San Diego County

  • YIMBY Democrats of San Diego County

📍 Event Details:
Date: Friday, July 11th
Time: 6:00 – 9:00 PM
Location: The Rail – 3796 Fifth Ave, San Diego, CA

Join us for a fun and meaningful evening as we celebrate Pride and continue building community and momentum together.

In Solidarity with our Communities

ASIAN AMERICAN PACIFIC ISLANDER DEMOCRATIC CLUB OF SAN DIEGO STATEMENT ON THE ASSAULT OF SEN. ALEX PADILLA

For many in the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities, Senator Alex Padilla has long been a trusted friend and ally. Time and again, he has stood with us-amplifying our voices, championing our causes, and fighting for justice. We are proud to have such a steadfast advocate representing California in the U.S. Senate.

That pride turns to outrage as we reflect on the appalling treatment our Senior Senator recently endured. For weeks, we have watched with growing alarm as communities have been terrorized - neighbors rounded up, families separated, and armed troops unleashed against citizens. In the face of this, Senator Padilla fulfilled his constitutional duty. He asked a simple and necessary question of those in power: "Why?"

For this, he was met not with answers, but with violence. Our Senator was thrown to the ground-disrespected not only as a public servant but as a voice for millions.
The excuses offered are hollow. The rationale is weak. The conduct of the current administration is a disgrace and an affront to the values we hold dear as Americans and as AANHPI communities.

We demand:
• The immediate resignations of Secretary Noem and her senior staff.
• A full and transparent investigation into the spending and actions of her office.
• A formal and public apology to Senator Padilla by President Trump.

This is about more than one man--this is about justice, accountability, and defending the dignity of our communities. We will not be silent. We will not forget.

We stand with Senator Padilla and thank him for his courage.
